Relay format & distances

See how the Tribloom relay moves from the first splash to the final team finish — and the distances each grade takes on.

The relay

Swim. Cycle. Run. Finish together.

The team completes one sport at a time, with each student completing one lap per discipline. All four students swim first. Next, all four cycle one lap each. Then, all four run one lap each. When the fourth runner begins the final stretch, the other three teammates take a designated shortcut to join them—and the whole team crosses the finish line together.

Every student is encouraged to take part in all three disciplines. If a team member is unable to complete one discipline, the team can exchange that lap with another team member on a one-for-one basis.

Example

If Team Member A is unable to complete the swim, Team Member B can complete A’s swim lap. In return, A can complete one additional lap in another discipline assigned to B (cycling or running).
